The Tree Nursery is located in Hyde Park, adjacent to the City’s Parks Department garage. The goal of this project is to plant about 100 tree and shrub species in small pots annually, for Arbor Day. Our organization receives seedlings from the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation. After 4-6 years of growth, the trees/shrubs are transplanted to city properties, such as parks. Currently there are 145 trees and shrubs in the Nursery.
Examples of locations where trees and shrubs are transplanted to include: Jerauld Avenue Park, 70th Street Park, Vineyard Community Garden (71st and Buffalo Ave.), Greenprint Garden Incubator (Main St. & Niagara Ave.), and the Isabella Tennant Memorial at Duck Island in Hyde Park.
